Bharathiyar Farmer Producer Company Limited

We are located at 1/38 in Pallaiya Gandarvakkottai. This is a place where everyone knows everyone else’s business, mostly because we are all farmers. We started Bharathiyar Farmer Producer Company Limited to help us get a better handle on our crops. It’s mostly about getting our stuff to market and making sure we aren't getting a bad deal. The days start really early here, usually before the birds are even up. We walk out to the fields and see what needs doing. Some days it’s weeding, other days it’s fixing a broken pipe. It’s never-ending, honestly. We don’t have a fancy office with air conditioning. It’s just a room with some chairs and a table where we can talk. We talk about the rain, or the lack of it, and how the soil is looking this year. It’s a very practical life. We aren't trying to impress anyone with big words. We just want to make sure our kids have a future here. The village is small, so we all have to look out for each other. If someone’s tractor breaks, someone else helps out. That’s how we operate. We’ve been farming this land for a long time, and we don't plan on stopping anytime soon. It’s hard work, but it’s our work, and we just keep trying to do right by the land we have.
