Vandana Sarees

We set up shop at No. 113/114 inside the Raghuvir Business Empire. It’s right at Aai Mata Chowk in Parvat Patiya. If you’ve been around this part of town, you know it’s always humming with activity. We deal in sarees, and our space is pretty much filled with them from floor to ceiling. There are colors everywhere you look. It’s a bit of a maze sometimes, especially when we get a new shipment in and haven’t found a place for everything yet. We spend our mornings unfolding and refolding the fabrics. It’s a lot of work on the arms, but we’re used to it. The Business Empire building is quite large, so we see a lot of different people every day. We aren't some high-end boutique with soft music and carpets. We’re a working shop. We have wooden counters and bright lights so you can see the thread work properly. People come in from all over Parvat Patiya. We usually have a thermos of tea going in the back for when we get a break. It gets hot in the summer, but the fans do their best. We’ve been doing this long enough that we can tell a good fabric just by the feel of it. It’s just us, working away in our corner of the building, making sure we have enough stock for whoever stops by. It is a long day, but the sarees are beautiful to look at.
