Umiya Sarees is tucked away at number 510 near Sukhadiya Sheri in the Haripura area. It's not a big fancy showroom like you might see in the city center. It’s just a local shop where we keep a variety of sarees for the people living nearby. I started this place because I know a bit about fabric and wanted to work for myself. We get most of our customers from the surrounding streets and the post office workers often stop by to see what's new. The shop can get a little crowded when we have more than three or four people inside, especially when we start pulling down the bundles from the top shelves. We don't have a big team or anything, usually just me or one of my family members sitting here. Sometimes the floor gets covered in fabric when we're showing different pieces, and it takes a while to fold everything back up properly. We don't use any fancy sales tricks or spend money on big ads. We just try to have enough colors and patterns so that someone walking in can find something they like for a wedding or just for daily wear. It’s a quiet life here in Haripura, and we like it that way. If you’re ever near Sukhadiya Sheri, you can just look for the sign. We’re usually here from morning until the evening market slows down. It’s just an honest business run by local folks who know their cloth.
