Textile Deal

Our unit is J-7 in the Japan Market, which is located near Delhi Gate in Surat. We have been here for a while and the zip code is 395002 if you’re looking it up on a map. The market is a maze of stalls and shops, and we are just one small part of the whole textile scene in Gujarat. It’s a noisy place with people shouting and carts being pushed through the narrow aisles all day long. We keep our shop simple. There are stacks of fabric everywhere you look, and maybe a couple of stools for when we need to sit down for a minute. We don't have air conditioning or anything fancy like that, just a couple of fans that we keep running to move the air around. Most of our day is spent measuring out cloth or talking to the delivery guys who bring us new stock. We know the other shopkeepers around J-7 and we often share a quick meal or a cup of tea when things quiet down for a second. Being near Delhi Gate means we are right in the thick of the action. It’s a practical place to be if you’re in the fabric trade. We don't try to be anything we're not. We just run our business, handle our customers, and try to keep things moving. It’s a long day from start to finish, but we are glad to have our spot in such a famous market. We just do the work and go home.
