Textile Bazaar

Our shop is C-130 inside the Belgium Chamber, which is a very busy building near the Delhi Gate on Ring Road. If you have ever been to Surat, you know that Ring Road is always a chaotic place with bikes and people everywhere. It’s the heart of the textile world around here. We are right in the middle of it. Our space is tucked away in the chamber, and it’s usually packed floor to ceiling with whatever we have in stock at the moment. It’s not a big showroom with lights and displays. It’s more of a working space where we handle orders and talk to customers who drop by. The noise from the street is constant, but you stop noticing it after the first hour. We drink a lot of tea to keep going through the afternoon. The Belgium Chamber has a lot of history and a lot of different businesses, so there is always someone walking past the door. We spend a lot of time on the phone or checking the bundles of cloth that come in from the mills. It’s a fast-paced environment and things change every day. We don’t have any fancy mission statements or anything like that. We just try to get the right fabric to the right person without too much fuss. It’s a small operation but we stay busy from the moment the shutters go up until we head home through the evening traffic. It’s not a glamorous job but it’s ours.
