Sweety Out Gift & Kurtiya

Our little shop is right on the main road in Jhampa and it stays pretty lively throughout the day. At Sweety Out Gift & Kurtiya, we’ve got gifts on one side and clothes on the other which makes the space feel a bit cramped. I spend a lot of time dusting the gift boxes because the road outside kicks up a lot of dirt. The kurtis are hung up on rods along the wall but they always seem to get shuffled around by the end of the day. It’s a small place and the ceiling fan makes a clicking sound that I really should get fixed one of these days. We get a lot of school kids coming in for small items and women from the neighborhood looking for something to wear. I keep a small radio in the corner but the reception isn't great. Most of the time I’m just folding fabric or trying to make sure the gift wrap doesn't get wrinkled. The front door sticks a little when it rains and the floor tiles are chipped near the counter. It’s just a basic shop where we try to keep things tidy enough for the customers. I don't really have a computer so everything is written down in a big blue notebook. It’s a lot of standing around and waiting but I like seeing the familiar faces walk past the window every afternoon. It feels like home even if it’s a bit messy.
