Swayamwar Sarees

The shop is on the first floor of building three here in Navi Peth and sometimes the stairs feel a bit steep when you’re carrying heavy bundles. Swayamwar Sarees is usually a bit of a mess in the afternoons because we’ve had so many people looking through the silk and cotton stacks. Sadashiv Peth is always crowded and the noise from the ring road never really stops. I spend a lot of my time just refolding everything that got pulled out during the morning rush. The lighting in the back corner is a bit dim but we make do with what we have. It’s mostly just me and a couple of others trying to keep the shelves from looking like a disaster zone. We get a lot of families coming in for wedding shopping and the place gets quite loud with everyone talking at once. I try to keep a pot of tea going in the back but I usually forget to drink it before it gets cold. The flooring is a bit worn out near the entrance where everyone walks. It’s just a regular local business and we don't have any fancy displays or anything like that. Just lots of sarees and a lot of work to do every single day. We’ve stayed in this spot because the neighbors are nice and it’s close to the main market area. Some days are slow and we just watch the traffic move outside.
