Swastik Creation

Our place is at number 4 in Chetan Nagar, right beside Guru Nagar in the Varachha area. It is a local neighborhood, not one of those big shopping centers you see in the middle of the city. We like being here because it feels more like home. The shop is quite small, so we do almost all the work ourselves without much help. Sometimes my brother comes over to lend a hand when we get a big shipment in. We handle a lot of different kinds of fabrics every day. There is usually a pile of scraps on the floor that needs sweeping up by evening. The street outside is narrow, so parking can be a real headache for anyone driving. Most of our visitors just walk over from the nearby houses. We have lived in this part of Surat for most of our lives now. We know the guy at the grocery store and the man who sells snacks on the corner. Our shop doesn't have a giant neon sign, just the name painted on the door. We spend a lot of time sitting at the sewing machines. They make a rhythmic sound that I have actually grown to like over the years. It is a simple way to make a living. We don't do any fancy promotions or sales. We just make things and hope people find them useful.
