We have been set up in the Millennium Textile Market on Ring Road for a good while now. Our units are L-1648 and 1649. It is a massive place, so visitors often get lost trying to find the right row. We spend nearly all our daylight hours surrounded by stacks of sarees. The colors are everywhere you look. Ring Road is always jammed with big trucks and rickshaws, so the noise of horns is constant. Inside the market, it’s a little bit cooler than the street. We have some wooden benches where people can sit while we pull down different bundles from the high shelves. It involves a lot of lifting and moving heavy stock, which makes my back ache by the time we close up. We don't bother with a website or social media. People just walk in because they saw something they liked or someone told them to come see us. We always try to keep a pot of tea going for anyone who stops by to look at the fabric. The concrete floors get cold in the winter months, so we wear thick socks. We keep a big ledger for all our sales and notes. It’s a busy life here in the middle of the textile hub. Sometimes we stay late to finish up an order for a big wedding. It is just what we do.
