Solanki Textiles

Solanki Textiles is up on the fifth floor of the New Shree Ram Market. We are in unit number 505. Being on the Ring Road means it is always a bit chaotic outside. There are trucks and rickshaws constantly moving goods around. Our market is very crowded, especially in the mornings when everyone is trying to get their work started. We deal with textiles and fabrics in bulk. We spend a lot of time moving heavy rolls of cloth around the small space we have. It is definitely not a clean or quiet job. My father was the one who got this place started, and I’ve been helping him since I was a teenager. Now I run the day-to-day things. We don't have a website or any social media pages. We just use our old landline phone and talk to people face to face. The lift in the building is often broken, so we end up walking up the stairs a lot. It keeps us moving, I guess. We eat our lunch together at the back of the shop amidst the piles of fabric. The market gets very loud with people shouting and machines running, but we are used to it by now. We just focus on getting the orders ready and making sure everything is counted correctly. It’s hard work, but it’s what we know how to do for a living. It’s a basic setup but it works.
