Silk Palace

Silk Palace is located at E-35 in the Bombay Market here in Surat. The Bombay Market is a landmark on its own, so we are easy to find if you are in the area. Our shop is one of those places where you just come in and see what we have on the shelves. We have a lot of different silk items and other fabrics piled up. It's not a very big shop, so we have to be smart about how we stack things so they don't fall over. Most of the time, the floor is covered with some fabric we are looking at. We don't have a fancy mission statement or a bunch of slogans. We just open up in the morning, sweep the floor, and start the day. There is always a lot of dust from the street, so we have to clean the glass cases often. My father started this business a long time ago, and we just carry it on. We have a couple of stools for people to sit on while they look at the goods. The market gets very crowded on weekends, so it can be quite a struggle to move around. We just focus on the task at hand and try to keep things moving. It’s a steady kind of work. We aren't looking to become a giant corporation. We just want to do our job well and look after our regulars. It’s a quiet satisfaction when we finish a long day. We usually grab some food from the stall nearby before heading out.
