Being at Japan Market on Ring Road means things are always loud and moving. Our spot is No J 156, and if you know this part of Surat near Delhi Gate, you know how crowded it gets with the trucks and the rickshaws. It is a bit of a maze in here sometimes. We spend most of our day surrounded by the sounds of the market. It is not the kind of place where you find peace and quiet, but it is where the action is. I usually start the day by unlocking the shutter and moving a few things around to make space. The walls have a few scuffs, and the floor stays dusty because of all the foot traffic outside. We have been here for a good while. You get to know the other shopkeepers around Ring Road. We all just do our own thing. Siddhi Vinayak Art is just a small part of this massive market. Sometimes the electricity flickers when the load is high in the building. We just wait it out. It’s a very grounded way to work. There are no polished floors or glass elevators in our section. Just solid walls and a lot of work to do. Finding a parking spot near Delhi Gate is a nightmare, so we usually just tell people that. It’s just how it is in this part of town.
