J J Handy Crafts is tucked away on the first floor of Sardar Complex. We are at number 98. It is easy to find if you look across from the Gujrat Gas Circles on Kumara Krupa Road in Madhavanagar. Being upstairs means it is a little quieter than the ground floor shops, which is nice. We have been in Adajan for a while. The shop is filled with various handmade items. We get things from different places and put them out for people to see. It is not a very modern setup, just some shelves and tables we've had for years. The stairs up to the shop can be a bit steep, so keep that in mind. We open at ten and stay open until the market cools down in the evening. There is usually a breeze coming through the window from the street side. We spend a lot of time rearranging things to make room for new stock. It is just me and one helper usually. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just drop by when they are in the area. The neighborhood has changed a lot since we started, with more traffic and new buildings. But our corner remains pretty much the same. We like the work. It keeps us busy and we get to meet different people every day who appreciate things that aren't made by machines in a big factory.
