Shreeji Krupa is our little store located in Khatodara. It’s been here for some time now and we mostly serve the people who live nearby. It’s a general kind of place where you can find the basic things you might need for your house, like soap, some dry snacks, or maybe some stationery for the kids. The shop isn't very large, so we have to use every bit of space, even the hooks on the ceiling to hang things up. I start the day early by sweeping the front and making sure the jars are full. Khatodara can be a bit quiet in the middle of the day, but it picks up when school lets out and later when people are coming home. I don't have a lot of help, so I'm usually the one doing everything from the cleaning to the selling. There’s an old counter that’s a bit worn out on the edges, and a small chair where I sit when there are no customers. We don't have any fancy displays or bright neon signs, just the name of the shop above the door. Most days are pretty much the same, which is fine with me. I know the habits of the neighbors and what they usually come in for. It’s a simple life running a shop like this, just keeping the shelves organized and making sure everyone gets what they came for. It’s just a small part of the Khatodara neighborhood.
