We are right here on Station Road in Surat, not far from the Amisha Hotel. It gets pretty busy around Unapani Road, especially during lunch hours when people are heading back from work or coming from the station. We’ve been running Shukan Gujarati Thali for a while now. Most days it’s just us making sure there is enough food for everyone who walks in. The kitchen starts early in the morning. You can hear the pots clanking while the city is still waking up. It’s a simple setup. We don't have fancy lights or anything, just tables and chairs and plates. We serve what we know how to cook. Sometimes the place gets a bit loud when it’s full, but that’s just how it is around here. People come in, eat their fill, and then go about their day. We see a lot of regular faces from the neighborhood and some travelers who just stepped off a train. Being near the station means there is always someone new stopping by. We don't spend much time on the computer, usually we are just busy with the groceries or cleaning up the tables. It is a lot of work keeping everything going every single day. If you are walking down Unapani Road, you will find us easily enough. We try to keep things honest and the food ready on time. That is basically our day-to-day life at the shop.
