Shree Khodiyar Sarees

You can find us at Shop No-1 in Shyamdham Sankul. We are right across from the Mahalaxmi Society on the Pune Simada Road. Being on the ground floor makes it easy for people to step in. We have been selling sarees here for a while now. The shop is usually full of different colors because of the fabric we keep out on display. It takes a lot of effort to fold them back up after showing them to someone, but that is just part of the job. The area around Shyamdham Chowk is usually quite crowded, especially in the evenings when everyone is out. We keep a few stools for people to sit on while they look through the stacks. My wife helps out with the customers and I handle the books and the orders. It’s a small operation. We don't have a big warehouse, so everything we have is pretty much right here in the shop or tucked away in the overhead cabinets. The lighting isn't the best, but we try to make sure people can see the patterns clearly. Sometimes the tea man from down the street brings us some chai in the afternoon which is the best part of the day. We don't really have a big philosophy or anything. We just open up, sell some sarees, and try to make enough to keep the place running. It’s a decent life and we like the people around this part of the road.
