Shree Balkrishna Textile

Our place, Shree Balkrishna Textile, is on the ground floor of Millennium Market, specifically at A-1011/12. Being on the ground floor is a bit easier than being way up in the higher levels because we don’t have to wait for the lifts as much. However, the corridors get really crowded with workers and handcarts passing through all day long. Our shop is where we keep all our textile stocks. It's a busy corner of the market. We spend a lot of time just sorting through fabrics and making sure everything is in the right place for the next day. The air in the market always smells a bit like new cloth and packing tape. We’ve been here for a while, so we know the routine of the building and the security guys. We open up the heavy shutters every morning and start the day's work. It’s not a glamorous job. There’s a lot of lifting, dragging, and counting involved. Sometimes we sit out front on a stool and talk to the neighbors when things are quiet for a minute. But usually, it’s not quiet for long. The Ring Road area is always moving and shaking. We don’t have a website or any fancy brochures, just this physical shop in Surat. People know us by our location more than anything else. We try to keep things organized, but in a small shop like A-1011/12, it gets messy pretty fast. We just do our bit and then head home at night.
