Satyam Sarees

Our shop, Satyam Sarees, is located at No. 538-539 in the Shree Sai Ram Market. This is right on the Ring Road, so you can imagine how loud it gets with all the trucks and buses going by. We have a double unit which gives us a bit more room than some of our neighbors, but it still feels small once you get all the sarees in there. Every morning we spend about an hour just unfolding things and then folding them back up again. Sarees take a lot of work to keep looking decent. We have some lights that show the colors well, but mostly it's just the standard market tubes. The floor is covered in a rug so people can sit and look at the fabric. We don’t have a fancy office or anything like that. Just a small cash box and a book where we write down what we sold. Sometimes the market gets so full of people that you can barely move in the aisles. We’ve been in this market for a good while now and know most of the other shopkeepers. We usually order tea from the guy downstairs a couple of times a day. It’s a lot of standing on your feet and talking to people, but we are used to it. The Ring Road never really sleeps, so there is always something going on right outside our doors until very late at night when the markets close.
