Sarees Market

Sarees Market is tucked away in A 201 of the Shivam Apartment. You can find us in the Manmohan Society, which is part of the Trikamna 2 area. It’s not a storefront on a main road, so you have to look for the apartment building specifically. We chose to set up here because it felt more comfortable than a loud market stall. Since we are on the second floor, it’s a bit of a walk up if you don’t want to wait for the lift, but it’s worth it. Inside the apartment, we have turned most of the rooms into storage for our sarees. There are piles of fabric everywhere, honestly. It’s a bit of a mess sometimes, but we know where every single piece is kept. My sister and I handle most of the daily stuff, from answering the door to packing up pieces for people. The Manmohan Society is a nice place to work from because it’s mostly families living around us. We try not to make too much noise when we are moving boxes around. It’s a small, local operation. We don’t have any fancy mission statements or anything. We just sell sarees to anyone who makes the trip to see us in Trikamna 2. It’s been our life for a few years now and we've gotten used to the rhythm of the neighborhood. We usually keep the balcony door open for some fresh air while we work.
