Saree Mall

Saree Mall is tucked away inside the New Sardar Trader Market, or NSTM as everyone calls it around here. We are at shop number 3011. Being on Punakumbhariya Road in Surat means we are right in the middle of all the textile action. It’s a big building and sometimes people get a bit lost trying to find the right unit. We’ve been in this market for some time, watching other shops come and go. It’s a lot of work keeping up with the inventory. Every day there are bundles coming in and out of the doors. It’s not a quiet place at all. You can hear the sounds of the carts and people shouting across the hallways all through the afternoon. We don’t have a big front window, just the door and our stock stacked up high on the shelves. Most of our day is spent unfolding things for visitors and then folding them back up again when they leave. It gets tiring on the back, but that’s just the nature of the job. The road outside is always packed with trucks and rickshaws moving goods. If you are coming down Punakumbhariya Road, you’ll see the market easily enough. We aren't trying to be the biggest shop in the city, just a reliable one where you can find what you need without a lot of fuss. It’s a bit messy sometimes when deliveries arrive at once, but we always manage to clear a path.
