If you go to the Surat Textile Market on Ring Road, you’ll find us at Shop A-1339 on the ground floor. It’s a massive market, so it takes a minute to find the right aisle. We specialize in sarees, mostly because that’s what we know best. The shop is packed from floor to ceiling with different fabrics and colors. It gets really busy on the ground floor because everyone is passing through. We have piles of sarees everywhere, and sometimes it's hard to see the floor. We’ve been here for years, through the good times and the slow ones. The market is always buzzing with noise, people shouting and carts moving goods. We don't have a fancy showroom. It's more of a practical space where we show sarees to anyone who walks in. We spend our days folding and unfolding fabric. My hands get tired by the evening from all the lifting. The tea guy comes around twice a day, which is the best part of the afternoon. We don't have a website or anything like that. We just rely on the people who come to the Ring Road market looking for something specific. It's a bit chaotic, but we like it. The shelves are old wood and they creak a bit. We just keep doing what we’ve always done. It’s a straightforward business. No big promises, just lots of sarees to look at. Sometimes we have to move boxes just to make a path for customers to walk in.
