Sahiba Fabrics Limited

Working down in the basement floor of Krishna Textile Market can be a bit strange if you aren't used to it. We are at No. 4, right near the JJ AC Market on Ring Road. It is always a bit cooler down here than it is out on the street, which is a relief during the summer months. Sahiba Fabrics Limited has been in this spot for a good while, and we’ve seen the market change quite a bit over the years. The hallways can be narrow, and when the big rolls of fabric arrive, it takes a lot of effort to get them down the stairs and into our space. It’s a lot of heavy lifting and moving things around to make room. We don’t have much in the way of a fancy office; it is mostly just stacks of material and a couple of desks where we keep our records. The tea man comes by twice a day, and that’s usually when we take a break and talk about how the day is going. Ring Road is always chaotic with trucks and rickshaws, so being tucked away in the basement feels a bit more private. Sometimes the ceiling leaks a little when it rains really hard, but we just put out some buckets and keep working. It’s just how things go in an old building like this. We know the other shopkeepers around here well, and we often help each other out when someone is short-handed.
