You can find our shop at G-1315 in the Surat Textile Market. It’s located on Ring Road, which is basically the heart of the textile trade here. The market is a massive place, and it can be pretty overwhelming if you aren’t used to the crowds and the constant noise of carts being pushed around. Our unit is just a small slice of that world. We spend our days surrounded by sarees. They are everywhere—on the shelves, on the tables, and sometimes in big piles waiting to be sorted. The air always feels a bit heavy with the lint from all the cloth. We don't have any fancy decorations on the walls. It’s just bare bricks and some old paint. There’s a small desk near the front where we keep our books. The lighting is bright fluorescent, which helps us see the colors of the fabric properly. Ring Road outside is never quiet. You can hear the traffic and the shouting of the loaders all through the day. We have a few fans to keep the air moving, but it still gets hot in the summer. Our neighbors in the market are like family after all these years. We share tea and complain about the heat together. It’s a busy, cramped, and loud way to spend the day, but it’s what we know. We just focus on the sarees and getting the orders out to people who need them.
