Roop Creation

Our shop, N-3744-45, is tucked inside the Millennium Textile Market on the Ring Road. Anyone familiar with Surat knows how chaotic this area can be. Thousands of shops are packed together and everyone always seems to be in a rush. Roop Creation consists of two small units that we’ve joined together over time. Our days are spent surrounded by massive piles of fabric and stacks of plastic bags. Lifting and moving heavy bundles is a constant part of the job. There are no fancy lights or a nice lobby for visitors. It’s strictly a place to get work done. Having been in this market for several years, we’ve watched many other shops open and close. The hallways are quite narrow and stay crowded with laborers carrying heavy loads on their shoulders. Sometimes the elevators break down, forcing us to carry everything up the stairs, which is quite a task. Our staff is small, just enough people to help with sales and packing orders. We still use a physical ledger for everything because the old ways of tracking stock feel more reliable to us. It’s noisy, dusty, and often very hot, but this is where the textile trade happens. Money isn't spent on big advertisements; we just rely on the foot traffic that moves through the market daily. It’s a tough environment, but we’ve grown used to it. Every morning starts with chai and work.
