Our place is a bit different because we are located in the underground section of Abhishek Textile Market. Specifically, we are at shop 267. Being in the basement means we do not get any natural light, so the tube lights are always buzzing away above us. It stays a little cooler down here when the Surat sun is beating down on the Ring Road outside, which is a nice perk. The market itself is always humming with activity, and you can hear the footsteps of people on the floors above us. We have a lot of stock squeezed into our unit, and sometimes it feels like a bit of a puzzle trying to find a specific roll of cloth. It is a very practical, hardworking environment. We are not here to impress anyone with a fancy showroom. We just have our shelves, our ledgers, and the textiles we deal with every day. Getting things in and out of the underground level takes some effort, but we have a routine down now. You get used to the muffled sounds of the traffic from the road above. Most of our day is spent under those lights, checking through orders and making sure everything is in its place. It is a solid, quiet spot to work in the middle of a very loud city. We just keep our heads down and get through the piles of work sitting on the desk.
