Ria Sarees

Our place is up on the 1st Floor of Abhinandan Market, specifically at 1055. Being on Ring Road means there is never a quiet moment. You can hear the trucks and the horns all day long, even from inside the market. Ria Sarees is a busy little spot. We have sarees piled up in every corner because we get so much stock in. The stairs up to the first floor can be a bit steep, especially when we are carrying heavy bundles of cloth. We’ve been here for a while and we know most of the other shopkeepers in the building. We don't use any fancy computer systems for everything; a lot of it is still written down in big ledgers. It feels more real that way. The lighting in the market is those bright tubes that hum a little bit. We spend our time checking the embroidery on the sarees and making sure nothing is torn. It's a lot of manual work. Sometimes we get a bit overwhelmed when three or four people come in at once asking for different colors. We just try to keep up. Ring Road is the heart of the textile trade here, and being in Abhinandan Market puts us right in the middle of it. It’s a dusty, loud, and energetic place to work, but we are used to it by now. We just keep our heads down and do the work.
