Rakhi Sarees

Rakhi Sarees is situated over in C K Nagar on the New Mico Road, near Hosa Road and the Ring Road. It’s a bit of a trek to get here if the traffic is bad, but we are right on the main path. The shop isn’t very big, but we’ve managed to fit a lot of sarees into the glass cabinets and on the racks along the walls. The lighting is a bit yellow, which sometimes makes the fabrics look a little different than they do in the bright sunlight. We often take pieces out to the doorway so people can see the real color and the thread work. The floor is covered in a thin carpet that’s getting a bit worn out near the entrance. We have a small stool for people to sit on while we show them the different designs one by one. It’s mostly just me and one other person working here. We spend our mornings dusting the shelves and folding everything that got messed up the day before. The Ring Road is always humming in the background. Sometimes we get birds flying into the shop because the door stays open for the breeze. We don't have any big slogans or fancy displays. It's just a place where we sell sarees to whoever comes in. We've been here for a few years now and have gotten used to the rhythm of the neighborhood. It’s a lot of work keeping everything organized, but we manage to get it done.
