If you go to Adarsh Market on Ring Road and find shops 551 and 552, that’s where you’ll find Rajul Textiles. We’ve been here in this corner for a long time. It’s two shops joined together, so we have a bit more room than some of our neighbors, but it still feels cramped once the new shipments arrive in the afternoon. The floor is usually covered in plastic scraps and loose thread. We try to sweep it twice a day, but the dust just comes right back in from the street windows. There’s a small fan in the corner that rattles when it’s on high, but we need it. Mostly, we just sit on the floor cushions and sort through the pieces people want to see. My uncle started this place, and now I’m the one opening up every morning at nine. The Ring Road traffic is a nightmare during the rainy season, and sometimes the roof leaks a tiny bit near the back wall. We just put a plastic bucket there and keep working. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just know where we are from word of mouth. We see the same faces every week, mostly other traders from the same market area. It’s a lot of lifting and moving things around. By the time we close the locks at night, my back usually aches a bit, but it’s a good kind of tired to have. It's just what we do every single day.
