Raju Fast Food

Raju Fast Food is a busy little spot on Pasodara Dalal Street 14. I'm usually the first one here to open the shutters. The metal makes a loud scraping noise that probably wakes up the neighbors. I start by heating up the oil. You can tell when it's ready by the way it ripples in the pan. The street outside starts to get crowded around eight. People are headed to work and they want something they can eat on the move. I use a lot of paper plates and plastic forks. The bin outside gets full pretty quick, so I have to empty it twice a day. My name is Raju, and people just call out to me when they walk up. I don't use a notepad, I just try to remember everything. Sometimes I get an order wrong when it's really busy, but I just fix it. The counter is stainless steel and I spend a lot of time polishing it so it looks decent. There’s a small radio in the back that plays old songs. It keeps me company when there’s a gap between customers. Pasodara is a loud place, full of bikes and trucks. I’ve lived here a long time. This shop is just where I spend my days, making sure the food is hot and the customers are moving along. The floor gets greasy, so I have to be careful when I walk.
