Rajdeep Sarees

Our shop, Rajdeep Sarees, is at A-1 on Ring Road. It’s a pretty easy spot to find because of the address. Working on Ring Road means you get used to the constant noise of the street. It never really stops, even late in the evening. We start the day by pulling up the shutters and dusting off the display racks. There’s always a layer of dust because of all the vehicles passing by our front door. Inside, it's mostly stacks of sarees reaching up to the ceiling. We don't have a lot of floor space, so we have to be careful where we walk. It’s just me and a couple of others here most of the time. We spend hours unfolding and folding things back up. Sometimes a customer comes in and wants to see twenty different pieces, and we have to put them all back neatly. It’s a lot of repetitive work, but it keeps us busy. The afternoon sun hits the front of the shop quite hard, so it gets warm inside. We have a small desk in the corner for the paperwork, though it’s usually buried under some samples. We’ve been in this A-1 spot for a long time now. People know us as the place near the start of the road. It’s not a big corporate office, just a local saree shop where we try to keep things moving along. We don't do much fancy stuff here, just handle the stock and talk to the people who walk in looking for something.
