Paras Textiles

Our place is out in Sector 23 at Transport Nagar, right on the Ring Road. Being at unit 2120 means we see a lot of big trucks and heavy machinery moving past all day. It’s a dusty part of town, so we’re always cleaning the front windows. We deal with textiles in a big way. Most of what we do involves bulk rolls and heavy fabrics. It’s not like a boutique where everything is displayed on mannequins. It’s more of a warehouse feel. We have stacks of cloth reaching almost to the rafters. My dad started this business years ago when there wasn’t much else out here. Now the whole road is full of businesses. We spend a lot of time on the phone coordinating with suppliers and making sure the loaders get the right bundles onto the trucks. It’s hard work and the days are long. We usually have a big fan going in the corner because it gets very hot in the afternoons. There’s a tea stall just down the road where we go when we need a break. Most of our customers are other businesses, but sometimes local people come in looking for a deal on a few meters of cloth. We don't have fancy brochures or anything. We just keep our heads down and try to get the orders out on time. It's a noisy, busy place but we like it here.
