Pansuriya Pan Centre

I set up this pan center in Singanpore at the 11th cross. It’s right on the R A Main Road in EJI Pura 6. It’s a busy corner to be on. If you stand here for five minutes, you’ll see all kinds of bikes and cars zooming past. The shop is small, mostly just a counter and some old shelves for the jars. I spend most of my time cutting betel nuts and washing the green leaves. The water is always cold in the bucket I keep under the counter. I have these glass jars filled with different sweets and mouth fresheners. The lids are a bit stiff sometimes and they make a loud noise when I twist them off. I usually have the radio playing low in the background, mostly just the local news or some old movie songs. The sun hits the front of the shop pretty hard in the morning, so I have to pull down a blue plastic sheet to keep the shade. People stop their scooters right in the middle of the road just to grab a quick pan. It causes a bit of a mess with the traffic behind them, but that’s just how it goes on this street. I know most of the guys who live in the apartments nearby. They come for a smoke or just to chat for a minute after they finish work. It’s a simple way to spend the day. I’ve been doing this for a long time now.
