Padmavati Foundry

Padmavati Foundry is situated at 13/17 in Udhna, right near Choksi Chemicals. Running a foundry is very hard and physical work. We deal with molten metal and heavy sand molds every single day. The heat in here is pretty intense, especially when we are in the middle of a pour. The building itself is an old industrial structure, and it definitely looks its age. There is black foundry sand almost everywhere, but that is just a normal part of the process. We do not have a fancy office with air conditioning or nice chairs. We just have a small corner where we keep the books and take a seat when we are completely exhausted. Most of the men working here have been doing this for a long time. It takes a certain kind of person to handle the heat of a foundry. We do not use any kind of high-tech marketing or sales people. We just make the castings and wait for the transport trucks to come and pick them up. Udhna is a very industrial area, so we fit right in with all the other workshops and factories. It is a dirty job, and we usually head home covered in dust and grime at the end of the shift. But there is a real sense of accomplishment in seeing a finished metal casting come out right. We do not make any big claims about our work. We just do what needs doing.
