Our office is in A1-203 at the Prasiddhi Apartment in Surat. It is quite close to Pragati Nagar in the Piplod area. Working out of an apartment building is different from a regular office block. You hear the sounds of children playing downstairs or someone’s television through the walls. It makes the day feel a bit more human. We are Essar, but here on the ground, we are just a small team of people trying to keep things organized. The space is a bit cramped with all the files we have to keep, but we make it work. We have a few computers and a lot of paper. Sometimes the elevator in the building acts up, so we end up taking the stairs, which is okay for a bit of exercise. Piplod is a nice part of Surat, but the traffic can be a nightmare during the rush hours. We try to get in early to avoid the worst of it. We don’t have a receptionist or anyone to greet people at the door. If someone comes by, one of us just gets up from our desk. We don’t spend time on marketing or making ourselves look bigger than we are. We just do the work that comes in and try to stay on top of the list. It’s a practical, everyday sort of place. We like the local food joints nearby for our lunch breaks. It’s just normal life.
