Madhuram Restaurant

Our place, Madhuram Restaurant, is found at L-5 in the Madhuram Appartment building. We are right on the Main Road near Bhatar Char Rasta here in Surat. Being on a main road means there is always something going on outside our windows. You can hear the horns and see people rushing to work at all hours of the day. We have been here for a good while now, and the apartment residents upstairs are basically like our neighbors who we see all the time. The space isn't huge, but we make it work with the tables we have and the kitchen in the back. Most days, the lunch hour is the busiest time because people from the nearby offices come in looking for a quick lunch that doesn't cost too much. We don't really have a fancy philosophy about food. We just cook what we know and serve it to whoever sits down. The kitchen can get a bit hot in the afternoons, especially during the middle of the year, but the fans keep the air moving in the dining area. We see a lot of families on Sunday nights who don't feel like cooking at home. The staff knows many of the customers by name by now, which makes the place feel more like home. It’s a plain, straightforward kind of restaurant. We don't spend money on big advertisements. People just see the name when they are waiting at the traffic lights at Bhatar Char Rasta.
