Laxmi Stores

Laxmi Stores is situated on Varachha Road Victoriya Road .A/1. It's a busy corner, and you can see people heading to work or coming home at all hours. Our shop is one of those places that has a bit of everything tucked into the corners. We have large containers of snacks near the entrance and rows of household goods further back. The ceiling is a bit low, which makes the store feel smaller than it actually is. We have a heavy metal door that we lock up every night with a big padlock. In the mornings, the first thing I do is check the stock of milk and bread that gets delivered early. The shelves are painted a pale green color that has started to peel in a few places near the floor. We don’t have a big sign with flashing lights, just the name painted above the door. The floor is made of smooth stone that stays cool even when the weather outside gets really hot. We spend a lot of time talking to the people who live nearby on Victoriya Road. Most of them have been coming here for years. We don’t use any computers for our accounts; we just write everything down in a big book with a red cover. It’s a simple way to run things, and it works for us. The shop isn't fancy, but it's been our home for a long time. We keep a small stool behind the counter for when things get slow and we just watch the traffic.
