Krishna Pan Parlour

You can find Krishna Pan Parlour on Varachha Road in the Purnanagar area. We’ve been here for a while now, running this pan parlour. It’s a modest little place with a counter and some shelves for miscellaneous items. Most of my day is spent preparing the betel leaves and mixing the ingredients. It’s a bit of a process to get it right, but I’ve done it so many times I don't really think about it anymore. The street outside is one of the busiest in the area, so there is never a quiet moment. We get a lot of foot traffic from people living in Purnanagar. They stop by after dinner or on their way home from work. I keep a small television in the corner to keep me company when it's slow, but the reception isn't great. We have to keep the floor swept because people tend to drop bits of paper and stuff. It’s just me and one other guy who helps out sometimes. We don't have a big fancy sign, just a basic one so people know we’re here. It’s a lot of standing and talking to the regulars. Sometimes the weather gets really humid and the leaves don't stay fresh as long, so we have to be careful about that. We just do our work and keep the shop open as long as there are people out on the street. It’s just a normal neighborhood business for the local people.
