Dharmistha Store

Dharmistha Store is located in Magdalla Town on Dumas Road in Surat. We are quite close to the Vr Mall but our shop is nothing like those big glass buildings. It is a small space in Athwa where we keep daily essentials for the people living nearby. I usually spend the afternoon organizing the packets of snacks and making sure we have enough toothpaste and washing powder on the shelves. The road outside is always busy with cars going towards the mall but inside it is mostly just the sound of the radio. We have been here for a while and the floor tiles are a bit cracked from all the heavy boxes we move around. I like it when the regulars stop by not just to buy something but to complain about the heat or the traffic. It makes the day go by faster. We sell things like notebooks for the school kids and batteries or light bulbs when someone’s house goes dark. There is no air conditioning here so we keep the door wide open to catch whatever breeze comes from the road. Sometimes it gets a bit dusty but that is just part of being in this part of Surat. We don't have any fancy computer systems for billing so we just write things down in a big ledger when we need to keep track of stuff and we handle everything with cash and carry.
