Banarasi Pan Center

Our Banarasi Pan Center is on the corner of Dn Sagar Road and L H Road 4 in Adajan. It’s a busy intersection with a lot of people passing by on their way to other parts of the city. We sell pan and various other small things that people might need quickly. The shop is quite small, and it can get a bit cramped when we have a lot of stock delivered. I spend a lot of my time arranging the jars and making sure everything is within reach. Since we’re right on the road, there’s a lot of dust, so I’m always cleaning the glass. We have a small stool behind the counter where I sit and watch the traffic. You see all sorts of things happening at this corner. The regulars come by at the same time every day, and we usually exchange a few words while I prepare their orders. It’s a lot of repetitive work, but I like the rhythm of it. The rain sometimes leaks in a little bit under the door when it’s heavy, so I have to keep some old rags handy. We don't have any big advertisements or anything like that. People just know we are here because we’ve been at this spot for a long time. It’s a simple, honest way to make a living and I’m used to the noise and the crowds now. It is just what we do.
