Zarqah Honey Fed Producer Company Limited

Our group is located in Village Gulgam, which is in the Batergam block. We operate out of Mohd Yaseen Bhat’s place. We are mostly focused on honey and beekeeping. It’s a lot of work moving the boxes around and making sure the bees are healthy and have enough flowers nearby. We started this company because we realized that by working together, we could buy better equipment and find better places to sell our honey. It’s a sticky job and you have to get used to the occasional sting, but we enjoy it. We don't have a big retail store or anything fancy. Usually, we just process the honey right here and get it into jars or tins. We spend a lot of time talking about which areas have the best blossoms this year. It’s a very natural process and we try not to mess with it too much. We aren't corporate people; we are just locals who know a lot about bees. Sometimes the harvest is great and sometimes it’s a bit thin, depending on the flowers and the weather. We just take what the season gives us. It’s a small operation, but it keeps us busy and helps out the families in the village. If you come looking for us, just ask for Yaseen Bhat in Gulgam. We’re usually around the hives or working on the latest batch of honey. We’re just trying to do something good with what the land provides.
