You can find us at B-96 in the New Fruit Mandi over at Parimpora. If you’ve ever been to the mandi, you know how it is. There are trucks everywhere, people shouting prices, and the smell of crates and fruit in the air. It’s a loud, busy place and we’ve been part of it for a while now. Our spot is just one of many in the rows of shops, but we like the energy of it. We deal with fresh produce, so everything has to move fast before it spoils. We’re usually there early in the morning, sometimes before the sun is even up, watching the loads come in. It gets dusty and crowded, especially during the peak season when everyone is trying to get their stuff sold. We don’t have time for fancy decorations in the office. It’s mostly just desks, some chairs, and a lot of ledgers. We drink a lot of tea to stay awake during the long shifts. The Mandi is like its own little town where everyone knows each other’s business. We talk to the drivers, the loaders, and the other traders every day. It’s a tough environment sometimes, especially when the weather makes the roads difficult for the trucks, but we wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. It’s honest work, and it keeps us on our toes all day long. We just focus on getting the crates moved and making sure the numbers match up at the end.
