Tulip Kesar Company

We are located in Frestabal, which is part of Pampore here in Kashmir. Most people know this area because of the saffron fields. It gets very busy during the harvest time in the late autumn. Our building is right there where we handle all the sorting and cleaning of the kesar. It is a family thing mostly. We spend a lot of time sitting on the floor with the flowers, picking out the red strands one by one. It is tedious work and your fingers get stained orange, but that is just how it is done. The weather here changes fast, and we have to keep an eye on the sky so the flowers do not get ruined by rain. It is not a fancy office or anything like that. We have some wooden tables and plenty of crates stacked up. Sometimes the tea stays on the stove all day because neighbors stop by to talk about the crop prices or the local news. We just focus on getting the work finished before the sun goes down. People come by the shop in Frestabal to see what we have. It is just a regular place where we work with what the land gives us. We do not have a big team, just a few of us who have lived here our whole lives. We know the smell of the fields and how the soil feels when it is dry. That is what our days look like at Tulip Kesar Company.
