Zabarwan Zaiqa Restaurant

Khayam Chowk is a very busy part of Srinagar. We are located right there in Nowpora, specifically at the Main Chowk. If you look across the street, you will see the old stone house. That is how most people find us. The winters here are very cold, so we spend a lot of time keeping the place warm for our customers. When the snow falls, the whole street slows down, but we still open up our doors. We focus on local food that people in Kashmir have been eating for a long time. There is no corporate manual for how we do things. We just cook the way we were taught by our elders. The kitchen is always full of steam and the smell of spices. The morning begins with the sounds of the market waking up. Traders and locals move through the chowk, and many stop by for a quick bite or some tea. Our furniture is simple and the walls have some pictures of the mountains. We don't try to be anything we are not. It’s just a local restaurant in a historic part of the city. We have our regulars who come in every day to sit in the same chairs. We know their names and what they like to eat. It’s a busy life, especially during the tourist season, but we like being right in the middle of Nowpora where everything is happening.
