Haji Wali Mohammad & Sons

Our shop is tucked away in Nawa Bazar, Srinagar. The name Haji Wali Mohammad & Sons has been around for quite a long time now. We are a family-run business, as you can probably tell from the name. Being in Nawa Bazar means we are part of the old heart of the city. The streets here are narrow and always full of people, horses, and small vehicles. We open up the shutters every morning and start our day just like our neighbors do. It’s a very traditional way of working. We don’t have a website or any fancy marketing stuff; we just rely on people knowing where we are. The building itself is older, and it has that specific smell of old wood and trade. We spend a lot of our time talking to people who have been coming to us for years. Sometimes their kids or even grandkids come in now. It’s a quiet life in some ways, even with the noise of the market outside. We handle everything ourselves, from moving stock to keeping the ledgers. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from dawn till dusk. We don't really change much because the old ways seem to work well enough for us and the people who live in this part of Srinagar. We just keep our heads down and manage the shop day by day, making sure we have what people are looking for.
