Amber restaurant

If you are in Srinagar and heading towards the airport road in Bagh Mehtab, you will find us. We are near the main road in the New Kralpora area. The restaurant isn't very big but we make do with the space we have. Most mornings start with the smell of the stove warming up. We have to bring in the supplies every day because we like things to be fresh. The winter months are tough because it gets so cold, so we spend a lot of time making sure the place is warm enough for people to sit comfortably. We see a lot of people who are just passing through on their way to the airport. The tables are basic and we don't bother with much fancy stuff on the walls. It’s just a place to get a meal. We spend a lot of our time cleaning the kitchen and prep areas. Bagh Mehtab is a nice area but it can get dusty when the wind picks up. Sometimes the internet is slow or the power cuts out, but we just carry on with what we’re doing. The staff are mostly local guys who live nearby. We don't have any big speeches about what we do, we just cook the food and serve it. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from the time we open until we lock the shutters at night. It’s a simple spot. We usually just keep the tea brewing and the rice ready.
