Dawatkhanna Restaurant (Centaur Lake Hotel)

We've been running the Dawatkhanna Restaurant here at the Centaur Lake Hotel in Srinagar for a while now. If you're heading up toward Chashmashahi or looking for Post Box No 221, you’ll find us easily. It’s a quiet spot, really. Most days, we just focus on getting the tables set and making sure the kitchen is ready before the lunch crowd starts drifting in. The view of the lake is something we see every day, so maybe we take it for granted, but people seem to like it. It’s not a fancy operation with high-tech gadgets; just a group of us who know how to cook the local stuff. Sometimes the tea runs out or a chair needs fixing, but we handle it. We get travelers from all over staying in the hotel, and locals stop by too. The address is 190001, right in the heart of things. Working in a place like this means you see the seasons change right outside the window. Winters get cold, and we have to keep the place warm for anyone coming in off the road. It’s a job, but it’s a good one. We don’t do big ads or anything. People usually find us because they’re already at the hotel or someone told them where we are. We just keep the doors open and the food coming out as fast as the stove allows. It’s straightforward. Nothing too complicated about how we do things here. Just us and the kitchen.
