Sarasraz College Of Education

Sarasraz College Of Education sits right on Hyderpur Bypass Road in Srinagar. If you know the area, it’s pretty busy with traffic most days. We spend a lot of time in the office here dealing with all the paperwork that comes with running a college. The building is just a normal place where people come to learn how to be teachers. There are classrooms with wooden benches and whiteboards that sometimes don't erase properly. Most of the students are local folks from around Kashmir who want to work in schools later on. We usually start quite early in the morning when the air is still cold. The staff room is often a bit messy with books and tea cups. It isn't a huge campus or anything, just a practical spot for people to get their degrees. Sometimes the bypass road gets blocked and everyone is late, which is just how it goes here. We have a few computers that we use for the records, though most things are still kept in big registers. The windows look out toward the road and you can hear the cars going by all day. It’s a simple setup. We don’t have much in the way of big fancy halls, but the rooms do the job for the lectures. Most days it’s just about getting the classes done and making sure the attendance is marked right. It’s a quiet life mostly, just focused on the books.
