Kashmir Harvard Higher Secondary School

Up here in Srinagar, specifically in Malla Bagh, things move at a slightly different pace. Our school is near the R P School in Hawal. It is a beautiful area, though it gets very cold in the winter months. Kashmir Harvard Higher Secondary School is a place where you will see students walking in with their heavy coats and bags every morning. The view from some of the upper windows is actually quite nice, looking out over the neighborhood. We have various buildings on the site for different ages. It is a lot to manage, honestly. The hallways can get quite crowded when the bell rings. We spend a lot of time making sure the heaters are working when it snows. The staff comes in early to get things ready before the first bus arrives. We have a mix of old and new furniture, and there is always a bit of mud tracked in from the courtyard when it rains. It is a regular school life—students worrying about their grades, teachers trying to finish their chapters, and the office staff dealing with piles of paperwork. We have been here for years, and most people in the Hawal area know where we are. It is just a solid, local school where everyone knows each other’s names. We do not make a big fuss about things; we just get the work done. The seasons change, but the daily routine stays mostly the same for us throughout the year.
