Old Ahujas Punjabi Rasoi

You can find Old Ahujas Punjabi Rasoi over on Boulevard Road, right near the Dal Lake in Srinagar. We are tucked back a little bit behind Hotel Shahabbas. Being this close to the water means we get a lot of people who are out walking and enjoying the view. Srinagar is a beautiful place, and we’ve been running this rasoi here for quite a while. It’s a Punjabi style kitchen, so we do things the way we were taught, with plenty of flavor and hearty portions. The place isn't very large, but we make it work. We have a small team of cooks and servers who have mostly been together for years. It feels more like a home kitchen than a big restaurant most of the time. The weather in Srinagar can get quite cold, so we try to keep the place warm and inviting for anyone who walks in off Boulevard Road. We don't spend much money on advertising or fancy signs. Most people find us because they smelled the food or a friend told them where we were. We just focus on keeping the pots full and the floors clean. It’s a simple life running a restaurant by the lake, and we wouldn't have it any other way. We’re just regular folks cooking for the neighborhood and the visitors who stop by.
