Natural Saffron Fed Farmers Producer Company Limited

Our group, Natural Saffron Fed Farmers Producer Company Limited, is based out of Kakapora. You can find us near the RR Camp, specifically at Manzoor Ul Rashid’s place in the Railway Coloney. Being near the railway is helpful for us because things move a lot through this corridor. We are mostly focused on saffron, which is a big deal in this part of the world. A lot of farmers around Kakapora come together to make this whole thing work. It’s a farmer producer company, so it’s really about the actual people growing the stuff in the soil. We spend a lot of time in the fields and then coming back to the colony to sort things out. It gets pretty busy when the purple flowers are ready for picking. Everyone has to chip in, even the kids sometimes. We don’t have fancy equipment, just what we’ve used for years. It’s a lot of manual labor, picking the threads and drying them properly on the trays. The office isn’t much to look at, just a room where we keep our records and meet up for tea. Sometimes it’s a bit messy with bags and boxes piled up in the corners. We don’t mind that though. The main thing is getting the saffron out to people who want it. We live here too, so we know all the families involved. It’s a local effort through and through. We wanted a way for farmers to have more control over their own work and livelihoods.
